How does the 1-5 random number generator work?

It draws a random whole number from 1 to 5 (both included). Set 'How many' above 1 to draw several at once, and keep 'No repeats' on if you need each number to be unique. You can change the minimum and maximum at any time to use a different range.

Is this random number generator really random?

Yes. It uses your browser's built-in cryptographically secure random source (the Web Crypto API) with rejection sampling, so every number in the range is equally likely. Results run entirely on your device and nothing is sent to a server.

Can I generate numbers with no repeats?

Yes. Turn on 'No repeats' to draw unique numbers, which is what you want for raffles, bingo, or assigning a random order. Turn it off to allow the same number to come up more than once, like rolling dice.

What can I use a random number generator for?

Drawing raffle and lottery numbers, calling bingo, picking a random order for teams or presentations, choosing a draft order, assigning numbers to football squares, classroom activities, and any decision where you want a fair, unbiased pick.
